A brief history of greengauges and it's founders
greengauges is the newest member of a family of 5 companies all working in the automotive gauge market and sharing common ownership.
greengauges was formed in July 2000 specifically to address the speciality automotive market, using the interactive benefits of the internet, to enable the end user to design a custom look for his project vehicle.
greengauges has the technical and manufacturing support of the largest company in the family, Caerbont Automotive Instruments(CAI). CAI was formed in 1993 by a Management Buyout of a VDO subsidiary, but it's roots are founded in the the 19th Century, when the Company was then known as the Smiths Instrument Company.Smiths went on to become the supplier of choice to the great British Sports Cars of the 50s,60s and 70s, marques such as Jaguar, MG and Triumph.
CAI continues to prosper in the British luxury car market selling to customers such as Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and Lotus.
greengauges utilises the technical and manufacturing skills of the most experienced gauge maker in the World to offer a wide range of race proven instruments, with unprecedented levels of customisation available to the on line gauge designer.
greengauges was founded by Nigel Bruce and Peter Catlow, who are the major shareholders in CAI, and bring almost 70 years of combined automotive industry experience to this new venture.
